Our mission is to provide long-term strategies for Pre-Apprenticeship construction-related vocational skills training, employment, and workforce development. To ensure diversification with minority inclusion in the construction industry, to attract business partnerships, investments, and community-wide collaboration, leading to sustained economic recovery and growth.
SWD's three-pronged approach to workforce development:
1. Skilled Trades Training 2. Fair Policy Hiring Practices with Employers. We will include more minority contractors in mega development commercial projects, where a ready crew of workers is trained and employed. 3. The idea is to get more trained candidates graduating from our school to be entrepreneurs, employed in skilled trades, and have the opportunity to grow as commercial contractors. A stable, wealthy society will outgrow violence and bring peace and growth to our communities.
Through our innovative program initiatives, we aim to transform discouraged, dislocated, and disadvantaged populations. We have strategically planned separate components to their program and supportive services for all year-long employment services to aid residents with invaluable hard-skill training and social survival soft skills to create an understanding of the self, environment, and employment dynamics.
As we move through the economic crisis brought on by the global COVID-19 pandemic, our workforce agenda is clear, with a trajectory pointed towards effective and lasting support for the unemployed, unskilled workers from Kansas City's SWD's metropolitan areas and vicinities.
We have employed over 1800 clients in various employment sectors and trained 150 participants in skilled trades in the Kansas City Metropolis and vicinities.
We are still going STRONG with our statement of Public Good.
