About Us

Our Team, partners & board volunteers

We have a great team of working board members, business advisory board members, and volunteers working with us. Our executive staff consists of our lead management team, curriculum Instructors, housing development contractors, executive consultants, and administrative assistants. Last but not least we work with our community partners and who offer great value to us through their dedication to our purpose and mission goals

Our History

Strategic Workforce Development Inc., also known as SWD, was founded on August 24th, 2018, as a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to job development, employment, and workforce preparation in Greater Kansas City, MO.

Today, SWD is not only a workforce development organization but also an accredited pre-apprenticeship program working with the Allied Trades, Contractors Union and Non-Union, and Developers.

SWD 2024

1. has developed new curricula and programs for students ready to join the workforce, and need education and guidance for new careers and entrepreneurial endeavors. We are associated with schools across Kansas City, MO.

2. Has expanded its program with a minority contractors program. It is an entrepreneurial initiative, as well as class program helping contractors learn how to bid on projects, create proposals, blue print reading and book keeping. This is a new addition that will create new contractors from successful candidates who have completed their apprenticeship programs and want to start their own businesses as contractors as well.

Our Mission

Our beneficiaries are the disadvantaged discouraged, dislocated, minority, re-entry, youth, women, veterans and mid-skilled populations in the Greater Kansas City area and vicinities

Skilled: Relevant and emerging skill sets and career fields that support our clients and strengthen the community. Support

Team player: We understand that it takes a community to find and rebuild our future workforce. Hope

We carry this value to our applicants, students, and community partners: we can only succeed through cooperation and collaboration
