Mission Statement

Strategic Workforce Development Inc. aka SWD is a 501(C) 3 pre-apprenticeship program working towards skilled trade apprenticeship programs, providing career opportunities in the construction industries. SWD also offers recruitment and 'fair hiring practices' employment in other job markets as a workforce development organization, based in Kansas City, Missouri. SWD is also Section 3 certified.

Our mission people are the disadvantaged, and dislocated populations, veterans, justice-involved, women and mid-skilled workers.

Our core program, BUILD IT KC, is a successful construction workforce program that focuses on the construction industry, skilled trades training/ pre-apprenticeship, and entrepreneurship. This is a four-week program with on-the-job Training, where candidates work with employers and organization partners.

As a workforce organization, we have created innovative programs that prepare, train, and mentor our mission population for enriched life and career success. We take a "people-first" approach to empowering, educating, tackling systemic, long-term inequity, and providing a bridge to financial stability, economic development, and happier communities through career training and employment services.
