Established on August 19th, 2018, Strategic Workforce Development (SWD) began as a job development program dedicated to expanding opportunities for underserved and disadvantaged communities. Today, SWD has evolved into a comprehensive Pre-Apprenticeship program that partners with Allied Trades, General Contractors, and Developers to create clear, equitable pathways into high-demand Apprenticeship Programs across Kansas City, MO.
Rooted in community and driven by economic mobility, SWD equips individuals with the skills, support, and connections needed to build careers in the skilled trades—strengthening families, neighborhoods, and the regional workforce.
