Strategic Workforce Development, Inc. ("SWD," "we," "us") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Kansas City, Missouri. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit www.strategicwfd.com, apply for or enroll in our programs, or communicate with us, and how we use and protect it.

1. Information we collect

  • Contact information: name, phone number, email address and mailing address.
  • Application information: the program you are applying for and your answers to eligibility questions (for example, age 18 or older, high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, basic reading and computer skills).
  • Optional demographic information: gender, race or ethnicity, employment status and veteran status. These questions are always optional and include a "Prefer not to say" choice. Your answers do not affect your eligibility.
  • Communication records: messages you send us and your text-message consent choices.
  • Website data: basic technical information such as browser type, pages visited and cookies used to operate the website and forms.

2. How we use your information

  • To review your application, determine eligibility and enroll you in programs.
  • To contact you about your application, class schedules, orientation and program requirements.
  • To send program updates and promotional messages, only if you have agreed to receive them.
  • To connect you with employment, apprenticeship and training opportunities you ask about.
  • To report program results to funders and government partners, as required by our grants. When we report demographic data, we use it in summary form that does not identify you.
  • To improve our programs and website, and to meet legal obligations.

3. Text messaging (SMS)

If you check a consent box on our forms, you agree to receive text messages from Strategic Workforce Development at the phone number you provided. We offer two separate, optional consents: (1) non-marketing messages about your application and enrollment, and (2) marketing and promotional messages such as class start dates, open enrollment and program updates. Consent is not a condition of applying or enrolling.

  • Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
  • Reply STOP at any time to opt out. Reply HELP for help, or contact [email protected].
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. This excludes only the service providers that deliver our messages on our behalf.

4. How we share information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only:

  • With service providers that help us operate (for example, our CRM, website, email and text-messaging platforms), who may use it only to provide services to us.
  • With training, apprenticeship and employer partners when needed to place you in a program or opportunity you have applied for.
  • With funders and government agencies in summary or de-identified form, or as required by grant terms.
  • When required by law, or to protect the safety of our participants, staff or the public.

5. Data security and retention

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. We keep information only as long as needed for our programs, reporting and legal requirements.

6. Your choices

  • You may skip any optional question.
  • You may opt out of text messages by replying STOP, and out of emails by using the unsubscribe link.
  • You may ask us to review, correct or delete your information by emailing [email protected]. Some records may need to be kept to meet grant or legal requirements.

7. Children

Our programs and website are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above shows when it was last changed.
